The Iowa Hillel House Board of Trustees engages the following duties on behalf of the organization, its leadership, its students, and the community:

Purpose of the Board

Duty of Care: Act with diligence and informed judgment to ensure the responsible stewardship of Iowa Hillel’s people, assets, facilities, finances, and reputation. The Board holds fiduciary responsibility to oversee the management of Hillel finances.


Duty of Loyalty: Ensure that Iowa Hillel activities and transactions are, first and foremost, advancing its mission.  Disclose and manage conflicts of interest, and act in good faith on behalf of the organization.


Duty of Adherence: Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, follow governing documents and bylaws, and uphold Iowa Hillel’s mission, vision, and values.

Deb Carneol

Chair

Deb is originally from Dubuque, Iowa and currently resides in North Liberty, Iowa. Deb has been a dentist at North Liberty Dental for 34 years.

Lauren Lessing

Vice Chair

Lauren is from Iowa City, Iowa and serves as the Director of the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art. Lauren Chairs the Governance Committee.

Barry Schreier

Secretary

Barry is from Iowa City and is the Director of Higher Education Programming at the University of Iowa Scanlan Center for School Mental Health, is a Licensed Psychologist and faulty in the Doctoral Program in Counseling Psychology. Barry sits on the Governance Committee.

Ethan Ross

Treasurer - Iowa Grad 2023

Ethan is originally is from Buffalo Grove, Illinois and currently resides in Chicago as a Financial Analyst at UL Solutions. Ethan sits on the Finance Committee.

Chloe tross

Development Chair - Iowa Grad 2015

Chloe is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She formerly worked in a non-profit and is a current balaboosta. Chloe sits on the Finance Committee.

Gary Milavetz

Gary is originally from Northern Minnesota and currently resides in Iowa City, Iowa. Gary is a tenured Professor in Pharmacy at the University of Iowa and a licensed pharmacist. Gary serves on the Finance Committee.
