David M. Weltman, Executive Director
David completed the Joint Program between Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2012 and an MBA from The Henry B. Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa in 2016. David has worked to strengthen the Jewish communities of each place he has lived, whether in his native Chicagoland, New York City, Beersheva (Israel), Iowa City, and even Kyoto, each in its own unique way, adapting to the needs of each one. He is very excited to call the Iowa Hillel and Iowa City Jewish community his new family.
"It is an honor to join Hillel to continue the legacy of service to Jewish students, the University of Iowa, and the Iowa City community. I am very passionate about Hillel as a home for Jewish students, no matter their beliefs or backgrounds, as well as establishing it as an epicenter of Jewish learning and living in the area. I look forward to working with the board and other community members to increase the Hillel's impact on the Jewish community." said David.
In his spare time, David is loves to travel and experience all sorts of new and exciting adventures around the country and world (for example, the photo above was taken on day 1 of the Overland Track in Tasmania, AU), meeting people from many different walks of life. He also is an avid bowler and a strong supporter of the Chicago White Sox.
He began his new role at Hillel on July 11, 2016.
